Build a kit

Large sets look like value and often are not: a 23-piece box tends to contain four pieces you use and a lot of lids. These three combinations are assembled from what we list, with the arithmetic shown.

The first kitchen

Everything needed to cook and eat, and nothing that will sit in a cupboard unopened.

$126.97 for 2 items.

Cooks most nights

A nonstick set for the everyday, plus one stainless pan for the jobs it cannot do.

$299.97 for 2 items.

Cooks slowly, feeds people

Braising iron and a full table service, for food that takes an afternoon.

$289.98 for 2 items.

What to add later

A kit is a starting point rather than a finished kitchen. The pieces most people add next are a small saucepan for sauces and reheating, a sheet pan, and one good knife. None of those needs to arrive in the same order as the pans.
